Notorious for trampling the religious rights of minorities and its atrocities on the people of Kashmir, the Narendra Modi-led Indian government sealed the Jamia Masjid Srinagar in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,and prevented Muslims from offering Friday prayers at the historic mosque.
The occupation authorities also placed APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest once again.
It may be mentioned that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was kept under house arrest since August 2919 and was released and allowed to go to the central mosque for praers last month.
APHC leaders and organizations including Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Jammu and Kashmir National Front and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement deplored India for usurping basic rights and freedoms of the Kashmiris including the right to practice religion.
They urged the international community to take cognizance of the India’s brutal actions in the occupied territory and ensure human rights were not violated by the Indian forces.
Meanwhile, Indian troops conducted a cordon and search operation in Ganapora area of Kupwara district and detained a number of people.
