According to the report, the BJP government has weakened the autonomy of state institutions and turned them into instruments for advancing what it described as the RSS’s Hindu nationalist agenda.
The report alleged that India’s judicial system, educational institutions and armed forces have been brought under the influence of the RSS.
Senior Indian journalist Ajay Shukla, speaking on a television programme, reportedly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that his government uses issues involving Pakistan and Hindu-Muslim relations to gain electoral support.
The journalist also criticized the government over Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the promise to restore the region’s special status after the elections had not been fulfilled.
Shukla reportedly said there was a growing gap between the statements and actions of the Modi government, arguing that previous promises had lost their significance.
The report presents these remarks as criticism of the BJP government and its policies toward state institutions and Jammu and Kashmir.
