RAWALPINDI: PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan and vice chairman of the party Shah Mahmood Qureshi will be indicted in the cipher case on December 12.
Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain on Monday held the hearing of the case inside the jail. Today, selected media persons were allowed to witness the hearing.
Tight security arrangements had been made outside the jail. Besides lawyers, Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi was also present in the court.
The copies of the charges were provided to the PTI leaders and their lawyers.
The judge adjourned the hearing till December 12 when charges would be framed against the PTI leaders.
Sources said that after indictment, the trial would start and it would be concluded without unnecessary breaks.
Talking to media in the jail, Imran Khan said that the conspiracy was hatched and executed by former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the behest of US official Donald Lu.
He said he would make US embassy officials and Qamar Bajwa witnesses in the case.
In reply to a question, he said no one held negotiations with him. He said he can give in writing that if elections are held the PTI would clean sweep it.
To another question, Imran said that he had never seen the face of Bushra Bibi before Nikah. He said her children were being forced to give statements against their mother.
