International community urged to help stop escalation of hostilities
Foreign Office says solution to Palestinian issue under international law imperative.
ISLAMABAD: As the Hamas-Israel clashes escalated with civilians falling victims, Pakistan on Sunday called upon the international community to help stop escalation in the hostilities.
In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Pakistan is concerned about the human cost of the escalating situation.
She said Pakistan had always advocated for a two-state solution as the key to enduring peace in the Middle East.
She added that a solution to the Palestinian issue under the international law and in line with relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions was imperative.
“A viable, sovereign and contiguous state of Palestine should be established on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
The spokesperson called on the international community to help in ensuring immediate cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians and for a lasting peace in the Middle East.
