Speaking in New York, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran had discussed various proposals and possible solutions with Qatari mediators. He said the proposals would be presented to US officials, after which Tehran expected to receive Washington’s response through Qatar.
Araghchi said Iran had also informed the United States and the international community of the conditions set by Iran’s Supreme Leader for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He did not disclose details of those conditions.
The Iranian foreign minister said that if the United States genuinely sought an agreement or peaceful solution, Iran had already presented its proposal. He said the next steps would be determined after receiving Washington’s response.
The diplomatic contacts come amid intensified mediation efforts aimed at ending the conflict between the United States and Iran and restoring maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports indicate that recent contacts have also included discussions on possible amendments to Iran’s seven-day proposal presented last week.
According to the report, messages between Iran and the United States are continuing through mediators rather than direct negotiations.
Qatar and Pakistan have both been involved in the recent diplomatic efforts, while Tehran has linked the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to its stated conditions.
