NEW YORK: Iran has filed a complaint in the United Nations Security Council against what it said the irresponsible and aggressive statements of US President Donald Trump against Tehran.
Iran has termed Trump’s recent threatening statements asking the country to sign a nuclear deal or be ready for bombing by the US as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
In a letter, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, wrote that if the US or the Israeli government carried out any kind of attack on his country it would be met with an immediate and decisive response.
On Sunday, Iran was threatened that if Tehran did not reach an agreement with Washington on its nuclear program, it would face bombings and further sanctions.
Reacting to President Trump’s threat, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said that hostility from the US and Israel had always existed, and if the US took such an action, it would face a severe retaliatory blow.
Ayatollah Khamenei also stated that if the US, as in the past, thought of inciting a rebellion in Iran, the Iranian people would handle it themselves.
