ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the Iranian government has assured Pakistan that the killers of eight Pakistani workers in Sistan-Baluchestan would be brought to justice.
According to a statement issued here, Dar was speaking to media in London. He said that the Pakistani ambassador and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were in constant contact with the Iranian authorities. He added that the Iranian officials have assured identification of the culprits and effective action against them.
Dar stated that an emergency cell set up in Pakistan was in contact with the victims’ families, while the Pakistani embassy in Tehran was handling the process for identification of the deceased and other legal matters, as well as overseeing the process of sending the bodies back to Pakistan. It may be mentioned here that two days ago eight auto mechanics from Punjab were shot dead at their workplace in the Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran.
Speaking about overseas Pakistanis, the Deputy Prime Minister said that a major convention of overseas Pakistanis was being organized in Pakistan. He said that the PML-N government had always given recognition and respect to overseas Pakistanis.
He appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis in supporting Pakistan’s economy and termed their contribution commendable.
