Baghaei said Pakistan was making efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and that bilateral relations and security issues would be discussed during Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s upcoming visit to Iran.

He said Iran would not accept US economic pressure under any circumstances, describing American economic sanctions against Tehran as illegal.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also announced that Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi would visit Tehran the following day. He said the visit was aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region, while political consultations among the coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz would also be advanced.

Baghaei further said Iran had not received a formal invitation to join the Mecca Agreement.

His comments come as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions in the region and maintain communication with neighbouring countries amid heightened regional uncertainty.
