TEHRAN: Few hours after Israel carried out targetted air strikes on Iran’s military sites, Tehran said that the Zionist state will be given a proportionate response for its aggression.
The statement of the government through the state media comes after Israel said it carried out targetted air strikes in military installations in Iran and its planes returned safely.
Iranian media confirmed that explosions were heard in Tehran and also in Karaj city located northwest of the Iranian capital early on Saturday morning.
A few weeks ago, Iran carried out multiple missile attacks on Israel. In reply Tel Aviv had warned that Tehran would face the consequences of its attacks.
According to Reuters, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they were conducting precise strikes to neutralize Iranian military targets as part of a defense strategy.
“Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized,” the IDF confirmed, emphasizing Israel’s stance on protecting its security against threats from Tehran and its affiliates.
As explosions echoed across Tehran and surrounding areas like Karaj, Iranian state TV suggested the sounds could be linked to the activation of the country’s air defense systems, while downplaying the presence of rockets or aircraft over Tehran.
Iranian officials have repeatedly cautioned that any aggression toward Iran will be met with severe retaliation.
