LONDON: An Iranian drone attack has destroyed a CIA station located within the United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia, according to media reports.
The CIA facility, situated in Riyadh, was reportedly targeted by a drone strike, causing partial damage to the building’s roof. The full extent of the destruction remains unclear.
Foreign media sources stated that it has not yet been confirmed whether any CIA agents or embassy personnel were killed or injured in the attack.
British media reported that the CIA had previously identified the residence of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a potential target.
The drone strike comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. The United States had allegedly launched operations against Iran at a time when the CIA was said to be working on supporting armed groups opposed to the Iranian government, including Kurdish militants, in an effort to encourage an uprising.
