Iraqi Prime Minister’s Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji said Iraq maintains strong and positive relations with both Tehran and Washington and intends to use those ties to play the role of a bridge between the two sides.
Speaking in a recent interview with Al Jazeera, al-Araji said Iraq wants dialogue between Iran and the United States to move forward and hopes the two countries can reach an agreement that serves not only their own interests but also protects the rights and interests of countries across the region.
He stressed that Iraq is willing to contribute to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and creating conditions for meaningful negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
The Iraqi security adviser also said that Iran has emphasized the need to eliminate militant groups operating from Iraqi territory. He described the issue as an important factor in maintaining regional security and stability.
Al-Araji’s remarks come at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States remain high, while diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation in the region.
Given Iraq’s geographical position and its relations with both Iran and the United States, Baghdad could potentially play an important role in facilitating communication and supporting diplomatic efforts between the two sides.
