Ishaq Dar Arrives in China for AI Summit, Bilateral Meetings

SHANGHAI: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Shanghai on Thursday for a two-day official visit to China, where he will participate in a major international artificial intelligence forum and hold bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar will attend the signing ceremony of the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO). Representing Pakistan as a founding member, he will sign the agreement on behalf of the country.

He is also scheduled to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2026 World AI Conference on July 17.

During his visit, the deputy prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and senior representatives from several countries to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Upon his arrival at Shanghai Airport, Dar was received by Wu Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai, along with Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in China Aizaz Khan and Pakistan’s Consul General in Shanghai Shehzad Ahmed Khan.
