ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s intelligence agencies have apprehended Sultan Aziz Azam, the notorious spokesman for ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K) and founder of its media wing, Al-Aza’im Foundation.

The development marks a significant blow to the terror group, as Al-Aza’im Foundation played a crucial role in ISIS-K’s recruitment and propaganda efforts. Following Azam’s arrest, the group’s media activities have been severely disrupted.

Azam was taken into custody this year as part of a wider operation targeting ISIS-K operatives. The United Nations Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team has acknowledged the impact of this arrest in its 16th report, which highlights the disruption of ISIS-K’s organizational structure.

According to the report, numerous planned attacks have been thwarted, and the group’s overall strength has been notably diminished. Key leaders and ideological figures within ISIS-K have also been neutralized.

The operation has crippled not only ISIS-K’s recruitment networks but also its ability to carry out propaganda through platforms like the “Voice of Khorasan.” With Azam’s arrest, the group’s capacity to spread its radical ideology has been significantly curtailed.
