ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Airport Authority has dismissed rumors suggesting the airport would be shut down for eight consecutive days.
The spokesperson clarified that while the airport will not close entirely, flight operations will be temporarily suspended for short periods on specific dates and times.
These interruptions are due to rehearsal flights scheduled ahead of Independence Day celebrations. From August 11 to 14, flight arrivals and departures will be suspended daily between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Additionally, from August 11 to 13, flight operations will also be halted from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Officials have urged passengers to check updated flight schedules with their respective airlines to avoid inconvenience during the rehearsal periods. Airlines are expected to make necessary adjustments to minimize the impact on travelers.
The temporary suspension is part of enhanced security and ceremonial preparations for the national festivities on August 14, which will feature aerial displays and other activities requiring controlled airspace.
Outside these designated time slots, Islamabad Airport will continue its operations as usual.
