Islamabad ATC sentences 3 blasphemers to death

 

 

An Islamabad anti-terrorism court has sentenced three blasphemers to death, while one blasphemer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs 100,000.

The ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan had reserved the verdict on December 15, 2020 after the trial of the blasphemy case was completed on social media.

The verdict also referred to the case of Muhammad Ismail Qureshi of the Federal Shariah Court. The court sentenced Nasir Ahmed, Abdul Waheed and Rana Noman Rafaqat to death for blasphemy while Prof Anwar Ahmed was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and orderedred a fine f Rs 100,000 for blasphemy.

The four accused named in the case, Tayyab Sardar, Rao Qaiser Shahzad, Faraz Parvez and Parvez Iqbal, have been declared fugitives and their permanent arrest warrants have been issued. It may be recalled that on the orders of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court, a case was registered in the FIA ​​on March 19, 2017 on the complaint of Hafiz Ehtesham.

Extraordinary security arrangements were made outside the Judicial Complex today when the verdict was announced and the four arrested convicts were produced before the Special Anti-Terrorism Court from Adiala Jail under tight security.
