Israeli occupation forces should immediately cease fire: Jilani

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq says Israel is writing a new history of barbarism and atrocities.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani on Sunday said Israeli occupation forces should cease attacks forthwith, adding Pakistan was deeply concerned about the Middle East conflict and loss of civilian lives from Israeli bombardments.

In the current situation, we stand by the people of Palestine and demand that the Israeli occupation forces should immediately stop attacking civilians population, he said in a social media statement.

He said under the UN resolutions the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with the pre-1967 borders was imperative for durable peace in the Middle East. Mr Abbas said the international community should seriously work to resolve the Palestine issue and restrain the Israeli forces from targeting civilians.

On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq while addressing a public rally in Lower Dir said that Israel was writing a new history of barbarism and atrocities. He said his party would continue supporting the people of Palestine.

It may be mentioned that hours after Hamas carried out ground and rocket attacks on Israel from Ghaza on Saturday, Israel retaliated by aerial bombing of civilian areas in Ghaza in which around 400 people have been killed and over 3,000 others injured.

Israeli Defence Minister Gallant said, “troops are fighting against the enemy at every location” and authorized the call-up of reservists. Footage circulating on social media appeared to show clashes in city streets as well as gunmen in jeeps roaming the countryside.

“We were told there are terrorists inside the kibbutz, we can hear gunfire,” a young woman named Dvir, from Beeri Kibbutz, told Israeli Army Radio from her bomb shelter.
