ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi was on Thursday shifted to Pakistani Institute of Medical Sciences from Adiala jail in Rawalpindi after his health condition deteriorated.
Jail officials said that Qureshi was not well for a few days and on Wednesday night he was checked and provided medicine.
However, his condition deteriorated on Thursday morning after which the jail doctor recommended his shifting to the hospital. Later, the special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, who is conducting the trial of the two PTI leaders in the cipher case, allowed the shifting of Mr Qureshi to PIMS in Islamabad.
A doctor at the hospital said that a number of blood and other tests would be conducted on Mr Qureshi before starting a proper treatment, in case there was any complications.
Qureshi is jailed along with former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan in the cipher case. Both the PTI leaders have been indicted in the case.
The special court constituted under the Official Secrets Act is conducting the trial inside the Adiala jail.
