According to foreign media reports, 35-year-old Serena was arrested on August 30 in Monticello, Minnesota, on suspicion of stealing two packs of power-tool batteries worth around $580 from a store.
Police said a store employee recognised the woman from an earlier alleged theft and alerted authorities. Serena reportedly admitted to stealing the batteries.
After her booking photo was shared online, social media users began pointing out her resemblance to 57-year-old Jennifer Lopez. Several users expressed surprise at the similarity, with one joking that they initially thought the photograph showed Lopez herself.
The comparison quickly spread across social media, with users commenting on the similarities in the woman’s facial features.
According to media reports, Serena was released on bail the day after her arrest.
