LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Sunday announced protest marches in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad against Israel’s brutal actions in Gaza and in solidarity with the Palestinians.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Rehman said that the Israeli attacks on Palestine, the silence of the Muslim world and the indifference of the international community were condemnable. He said 90 percent of Gaza had been destroyed, thousands of people expelled form their homes and children and women bombed even on Eid. No one is ready to speak against the Israeli atrocities, he added.
Rehman said that the rulers in the West had been exposed while peace loving people in the West were protesting against the Israeli atrocities. The United States and European Union are supporters of Israel, he said.
The JI chief announced that his party was going to hold a protest march to the US consulate in Lahore on April 11. A million march will be held in Karachi on April 13. We will march to the US embassy in Islamabad on April 20.
The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami said the Muslim world had showed its callousness and weakness on the issue of Gaza, and those who consider themselves safe under the shadow of America will stand in the court of history.
He said he would also write a letter to the United Nations against Israeli terrorism and brutality on the Palestinians and try to awaken the global conscience.
