LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Amir Liaqat Baloch has urged the Punjab government to negotiate with TLP and accept its legitimate demands.

He urged the Punjab government to initiate direct negotiations with the religious group and to acknowledge their legitimate demands, emphasizing that the use of force cannot provide a solution to any issue.

During a telephone conversation with Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Liaqat Baloch discussed matters concerning TLP’s march. He requested that his message be conveyed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Maryam Aurangzeb confirmed that the Punjab government is actively reaching out to TLP to facilitate negotiations. She added that Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique is engaging with the leadership of TLP to arrange dialogue.

Earlier, in a statement, Liaqat Baloch held the Punjab government responsible for attempts to sabotage TLP’s protest march and for creating conditions that could lead to violence. He reiterated the importance of conducting negotiations and recognizing TLP’s legitimate demands.

On international matters, Liaqat Baloch expressed that Afghanistan’s alignment with India runs counter to the wishes of the Afghan people.
