ISLAMABAD: A high-level Indonesian defence delegation, headed by Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Jafri Shamsuddin, met Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Reza Hayat Haraj and senior officials of the Ministry of Defence Production.
During the meeting, Minister Haraj said Pakistan considers Indonesia a close friend and a brotherly Muslim nation. He noted that recent significant interactions between the two countries laid the foundation for strengthening defence production ties.
Minister Haraj also underscored Pakistan’s considerable capabilities in the defence production sector and welcomed the establishment of joint working groups between the two countries to foster greater collaboration.
General Shamsuddin expressed strong interest in accelerating the creation of these joint working groups, highlighting that such cooperation would open new avenues for mutual benefit and exploration of each other’s strengths.
Minister Haraj also extended an invitation to the Indonesian officials to actively participate in the upcoming defence exhibition (IDEAS 2026), offering a platform for deeper defence collaboration.
In response, General Shamsuddin thanked the Minister for Defence Production for the warm hospitality and praised Pakistan for its rich culture, thriving democracy, and dynamic economy. Both parties expressed optimism that these brotherly relations will evolve into long-term, trust-based strategic ties.
