The case was filed by Common Cause, an advocacy organisation that argued the advertisements were not genuine public service announcements but political propaganda intended to benefit Republican candidates.
The judge directed the administration to halt the use of public funds for the advertisements, which were alleged to promote President Donald Trump’s political interests ahead of the elections.
The ruling comes amid scrutiny over the use of government resources for political messaging and the distinction between public information campaigns and partisan advertising.
In a separate development mentioned, Trump reportedly suggested renaming either the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean as the “Trump Ocean” during a rally in Clarksville, Tennessee.
According to the report, he made the remarks while discussing geographical features and joking about the idea of naming an ocean after himself.
