ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has supported the nationwide protest planned by the opposition on February 8 (tomorrow).
In a joint press conference with opposition leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Maulana Fazal said the opposition is being denied the right to rally and protest. “We will not stand silent in the face of these injustices. Our protest on February 8 will stand for the restoration of the people’s rights,” he added.
Achakzai reiterated that their struggle is not about personal power but about restoring democracy and ending the exploitation of the people’s mandate. He pointed out, “We are not after power. We want to protect the country from further decline. The people are the source of power, and we must work together to restore that power to the people.”
Maulana Fazlur Rehman confirmed JUI-F’s full support for the February 8 protest. “We will not hold any rallies on February 8, but we will fully support the wheel-jam strike. The government’s failure to address the people’s grievances and its manipulation of elections has forced us to take a firm stand. We demand new elections and the restoration of justice,” he said.
