PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has decided in principle to transform some of the old villages in Kalash valleys into model and cultural villages.

At a meeting, officials concerned also agreed to provide tractors for road cleaning in Rumbur and Birir valleys, with plans to supply modern machinery for roads in the Kalash valleys in the near future.

These decisions were taken at a meeting in Peshawar between the Focal Person for Minority Affairs Wazirzada, Director General of Kalash Valleys Development Authority Minhasuddin and Director of Archaeology and Museums Dr. Abdul Samad.

It may be mentioned here that for decades the government has made claims and plans for the development of the Kalash valleys which have huge potential for tourism.

However, the government has failed to even pave and widen the kutcha roads to facilitate the visitors.
