ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry on Friday said that the Kashmiri diaspora in different parts of the world should play their role in exposing Indian government’s nefarious designs in the occupied territory.
Speaking to International Kashmir Peace Forum Europe chapter President Zahid Iqbal Hashmi at Kashmir House in Islamabad, the AJK president said that the Kashmiris living abroad should work to highlight the issue of Kashmir at international forums so that it could be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
He also said that the Indian regime had been hoodwinking the international community about the situation in the occupied Kashmir where over half a million occupation troops had been involved in rampant violations of human rights and extra-judicial killings.
He said the sham local government elections in the occupied cannot substitute the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination promised to them by the United Nations.
“Nothing short of the right to self-determination can satisfy political aspirations of the people of occupied Kashmir,” he said.
Chaudhry also remarked that the Modi government had unleashed a reign of terror in the occupied territory. “The Indian government is determined to install a Hindu chief minister in occupied Kashmir to push forward its Hindutva agenda in the region,” he added.
