PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a new schedule for public sector schools across the province, according to an official notification.
Under the revised timetable, primary schools will open at 7:30 AM and close at 1:35 PM.
The education department has also introduced new measures to promote students’ moral and character development. Schools have been directed to conduct speech sessions three days a week and tableau or activity-based learning on three days to enhance ethical awareness among students.
In addition, school heads have been instructed to organize a weekly “Bazm-e-Adab” (literary gathering) on the last working day of each week. Following the event, the final three periods will be reserved for staff meetings and completion of official records.
The notification further states that in case of a shortage of teachers or long absences, headteachers and subject specialists will take classes to ensure continuity in academic activities.
All District Education Officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the new timetable in schools.
