PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken decisive steps to bolster the protection of female students in universities, introducing strict regulations and oversight to ensure a safer academic environment across the province.

In an official statement, it was announced that universities will enforce rigorous codes of conduct governing interactions between faculty and female students. University administrations have also been instructed to ensure the prompt resolution of any complaints lodged by students.

Additionally, awareness seminars on harassment prevention will be mandatory in all public sector universities. Institutions are required to conduct at least quarterly workshops addressing harassment, including guidance on the Protection Against Harassment Act 2010 and Higher Education Commission (HEC) policies.

Following a recent harassment case, the Chief Minister has formed a special inquiry committee at Peshawar University to investigate the matter. All universities are mandated to submit regular reports on the implementation of these measures to the Higher Education Department.

The Chief Minister emphasized that immediate compliance and consistent updates are essential, reflecting the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of female students throughout the province.
