LAHORE: Journalist organizations across the country have condemned the remarks of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur which he passed at the party’s public gathering in Islamabad on Sunday night.
During his speech at the public gathering, the PTI leader openly threatened journalists who are critique of his party and also passed objectionable remarks against women journalists.
Lahore press Club President Arshad Ansari said that the allegations and remarks against women journalists showed the level of mental stability of the KP chief minister. He announced to boycott coverage of Gandapur till he tenders an apology for his remarks. The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists also condemned the remarks and said that these would be raised at all forums. The Association of Electronic Media News Editors and News Director said that the PTI should seek an explanation from Gandapur about his remarks against journalists and women media persons.
Meanwhile, reporters covering the Senate and National Assembly staged a walk-out from the parliament’s press gallery against the remarks of the KP chief minister. Opposition leader in National Assembly and PTI leader Omer Ayub Khan apologized to journalists after the latter walked out from press gallery of the house.
