According to reported readings, pollution levels reached 500 along GT Road and in Shahdara, while DHA Phase 6 recorded an AQI of 357 and Kahna Nau registered 342.
Meanwhile, an anti-smog crackdown is continuing on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Lahore Traffic Police established special checkpoints late at night as authorities stepped up enforcement measures to address the worsening pollution.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore said the city’s position at the top of the pollution rankings demanded strict measures to protect public health and safety.
The CTO said soil and sand trolleys, as well as dumpers carrying uncovered loads, are prohibited from entering Lahore. Cases are being registered against violators.
Authorities have also warned that drivers of vehicles emitting dangerously high levels of smoke will face suspension of their driving licences.
