Lahore’s Basant Festival Concludes After Three Days of Festivities

LAHORE: Lahore was transformed into a lively spectacle of kites soaring through the sky, pulsating music, delicious food, and joyous celebrations as the city’s three-day Basant festival came to a successful conclusion.

Throughout the festival, people of all ages enthusiastically took to rooftops with colorful kites in hand, engaging in the traditional kite-flying competitions known as “piche-ladna”.

The air was filled with the rhythmic beats of dhols, the cheerful chants of kite flyers, and the infectious energy of communities celebrating together across the city.

Numerous gatherings and feasts were organized at various locations, allowing citizens to experience the festival’s full cultural richness and vibrancy.

To ensure that the festivities could continue for the passionate kite enthusiasts, authorities extended the final kite-flying sessions until 5:00 AM, giving everyone extra time to enjoy the celebrations and the city-wide spectacle.

Following the successful conclusion of the festival in Lahore, the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz indicated plans to encourage Basant celebrations in other cities of the province as well.

This aims to revive the region’s cultural traditions, strengthen community engagement, and promote nationwide enjoyment of this iconic event.
