Landslide kills eight children in Shangla, KP

Children were playing cricket when landslide hit them, according to rescue staffers.

SHANGLA: At least eight children were killed when they were buried under a landslide in Martung Khas area of Shangla in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

As per details, the children were playing cricket when the landslide hit them. Initially, five children were declared dead and five others buried under the sand. However, the rescue declared eight children dead while one child is still under the sand dune.

Furthermore, a search operation is underway for the missing children. A relief operation is underway to find missing children. Footage showed that an excavator was being used to search for bodies.

Shangla Deputy Commissioner Hassan Abid confirmed the death toll. “Eight bodies and an injured girl have been pulled out of the rubble and moved to the hospital,” he said. According to Mr Abid, a massive landslide struck the area when the children were playing cricket and buried them underneath.
