PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has sentenced a lawyer to six months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 for using inappropriate and abusive language against a female judge inside a courtroom in Swat.
According to a short order issued by the Peshawar High Court, complaints against lawyer Asadullah were received by the Registrar of the court. The complaint was filed by Civil Judge Fauzia Naseem.
The High Court converted the complaint into a contempt of court petition and initiated formal contempt proceedings against the lawyer. A notice was issued, and after the completion of proceedings, the allegations against him were proven.
The court awarded the sentence under the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2004, sentencing the lawyer to six months’ imprisonment along with a fine of Rs100,000.
