LG Members of KP Protest Over Unmet Demands

PESHAWAR: Local government representatives from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa staged a protest at Assembly Chowk in support of their demands.

Elected officials from various districts of the province participated in the demonstration, voicing their concerns over the lack of authority and funds.

Addressing the protesters, Mayor of Mardan, Hamayatullah Mayar, criticized the provincial government, stating that despite more than four years passing, they had not been granted any powers or funds.

He added, “The provincial government owes us 150 billion rupees, but not a single rupee has been paid so far.” Mayar declared that the protest would continue until their demands were met and practical steps were taken.

Opposition Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah, also joined the protest. Speaking to the protesting local representatives, Dr. Ibadullah remarked, “Public representatives are out protesting for their rights, but the Chief Minister of the province is nowhere to be seen.”

He further stated, “For the past 12 years, the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been used to fulfill the personal desires of one individual.”
