KARACHI: The head coach of the Pakistan national football team, Noldenerto Solano, has said the country possesses abundant talent, but proper and modern training is needed to help emerging players reach their potential on the global stage.
In an interview, the Peruvian coach highlighted the importance of providing local players with opportunities to showcase their skills. Solano stated that the 31st National Challenge Cup football tournament, which begins in Karachi on Wednesday, would give local players a platform to demonstrate their abilities. “Such tournaments are crucial for selecting better players for international competitions in the future,” he said.
Solano also stressed that grassroots-level competitions are essential for uncovering new talent, and that football development should begin at the school level.
“If Pakistan wants to develop in football, there must be continuous tournaments at the grassroots level,” he added. He pointed out that while foreign-born players in the national team bring valuable experience, a strategy must be developed to nurture local talent from the ground up.
The coach is optimistic about Pakistan’s future in football, stating, “With hard work and consistent effort, Pakistan will one day improve its position in FIFA’s global rankings.”
