Police said the suspect was arrested amid concerns that he might flee the city. He had earlier secured pre-arrest bail in the case.

The development came after a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, chaired by Faryal Talpur, where the committee expressed strong displeasure over the suspect’s failure to be arrested. Talpur directed police officials to take immediate action and arrest him.

Earlier on Thursday, a heavy police contingent also shut down the suspect’s restaurant in Safora.

According to the case details, Konein Shah and several associates allegedly assaulted Professor Arif Saqi and his nephew Waheed outside the restaurant on Tuesday following a minor dispute. A case was subsequently registered at Sachal Police Station.
