KOHAT: Kohat police have successfully foiled a major attempt to smuggle a large cache of illegal weapons and arrested an inter-district arms smuggler at the City Gate checkpoint.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Zahid Ullah, the arrested suspect, identified as Behram, is a resident of Kurram district. The intelligence-based operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP City Hafeez-ur-Rehman, SHO City Fayaz Khan, and their team. During checking, a pickup vehicle loaded with a significant quantity of weapons was intercepted. The arms were expertly hidden inside the vehicle.
The recovered weapons include two heavy machine guns, eight grenades, twenty-nine repeater rifles, and dozens of other firearms and ammunition. The suspect was reportedly transporting the weapons from Kurram to Peshawar.
A case has been registered at the City Police Station. The accused has confessed to smuggling the large consignment of weapons, and further investigations are ongoing to trace the broader network behind the operation.
