According to the Foreign Office, President Muizzu will be accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, cabinet ministers and senior government officials. The visit will mark the first official trip to Pakistan by a Maldivian president in 11 years.

During the visit, President Muizzu will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, who will host an official banquet in his honour. He will also hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, followed by delegation-level discussions between the two countries.

The Foreign Office said the talks would cover all aspects of Pakistan-Maldives relations, with particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, healthcare, education, tourism and agriculture.

The two sides will also explore opportunities to enhance collaboration in defence, maritime security, climate change and people-to-people exchanges. Regional and international issues of mutual interest are also expected to feature in the discussions.

A Pakistan-Maldives Business Forum will be organised during the visit to strengthen commercial links between the two countries. The forum will bring together business communities from both sides to explore new trade and investment opportunities and encourage private-sector partnerships.

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding covering different areas of bilateral cooperation are also expected to be signed during the visit.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and the Maldives.

The two countries are also marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026, adding significance to the presidential visit.
