FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully apprehended a key member of an international criminal gang involved in forcibly making women beg in Saudi Arabia.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Sharif, had returned from abroad and was taken into custody at Faisalabad Airport. Sharif was on Interpol’s wanted list due to his involvement in organized criminal activities.

Reports indicate that the suspect, along with his accomplices, lured impoverished and vulnerable women under the pretext of performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia. Once there, the women were allegedly coerced into begging against their will.

Following his arrest, Sharif was transferred to the FIA Crime Circle, where authorities are conducting further interrogation to uncover the full extent of the gang’s operations.

Previously, two of his associates, Zahoor Ahmed and Muhammad Ghafoor, had also been arrested in connection with the case.
