Massive increase made in KP chief minister’s discretionary fund

PESHAWAR: A massive increase has been made in KP chief minister’s discretionary fund.

According to official documents, the discretionary fund for the Chief Minister has been significantly increased for the upcoming fiscal year. The fund has been set at Rs. 500 million (50 crore) for the next financial year.

In the current fiscal year, Rs. 50 million (5 crore) had been allocated under the discretionary fund, but the Chief Minister spent the entire Rs. 500 million, exceeding the original allocation by a substantial margin.

The documents reveal that Rs. 110 million (11 crore) were spent on gifts and entertainment during the current fiscal year.

The original allocation for this category was Rs. 35 million (3.5 crore).

For the upcoming year, an estimated Rs. 38.5 million (3.85 crore) has been proposed for the same.

Excessive Spending Under Secret Fund Charges: The Chief Minister also spent an additional Rs. 150 million (15 crore) under secret fund charges.

The allocation for this category in the current fiscal year was only Rs. 50 million (5 crore).
