Meetings with US officials very fruitful, says PM’s aide

Tariq Fatemi says huge US investment will be made in Pakistan in coming three to six months.

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi has said that comprehensive snd fruitful meetings were held with the Trump administration during his visit to the US.

Mr Fatemi said in an interview with a TV channel that his meetings with the Trump administration officials were very productive and fruitful. Pakistan-US cooperation in difficult situations in the region has been meaningful, he said, adding that the coming of a new administration in the US does not change the basic issues of the two countries.

He said the statements of President Trump against terrorism had already come out. We also made it clear to the United States that terrorism will not be tolerated. Recently, Pakistan captured the main terrorist wanted by the United States involved in attacking American forces in Kabul in 2021 and handed him over to the US. The US President appreciated Pakistan’s move to hand over the terrorist to the United States.

Mr Fatemi said that the people of Pakistan and its law enforcement agencies had made great sacrifices against terrorism.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants to have best economic cooperation with neighboring countries. He said that large investments were likely to come to Pakistan in the next three to six months.
