Merub Ali, Atabik Mohsin and Hisham Khan are playing lead roles in ARY Digital’s new drama serial Izzat, written by Ilham Asim and directed by Aamir Yousuf.

Speaking during her recent appearance on the television programme Good Morning Pakistan, Merub Ali discussed her journey into acting and shared details about her childhood passion for the entertainment industry.

She said that when she was around 16 or 17, she appeared in a song by singer Sajjad Ali, after which she began modelling. She later made her acting debut in a drama towards the end of 2021.

Recalling her childhood, Merub said she had been interested in showbiz since she was young. At the age of 11 or 12, she would watch films and, inspired by their stories, act out different characters from them on her own.

The actress said her family knew about her passion for acting but never took it very seriously because they were living in Saudi Arabia. According to her, her family could not imagine how she would eventually move to Pakistan and pursue an acting career, and they did not expect her to get an opportunity in showbiz.

Asked about the challenges of acting, Merub said she does not find the work difficult and could work for 24 hours without a problem. However, she admitted that she does not enjoy waiting and would probably fall asleep if given an hour-long break.

Talking about her current drama Izzat, she said the serial carries an important message. She added that viewers might initially become angry with her character but would understand the character better as the story progresses.
