ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a drought across Pakistan as the country received no or scant rainfall.
The PMD here on Wednesday said that the country has received 52 per cent less than normal rainfall this year and 40 per cent less than normal rainfall between September 1, 2024 and January 15, 2025.
According to Meteorological Department, there is a threat of drought in the country due to less than normal rainfall. If the dry spell continues, the drought situation is likely to worsen. The PMD has warned of a drought in Pakistan due to low rainfall.
It may be mentioned here that since September, there have been no rains in most parts of Punjab especially Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The dry weather has led to a cold wave and created chances of severe water shortage as water level in dams providing drinking and irrigation water have shrunk to a dangerous level.
