ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday allowed military courts to pronounce judgements against convicts.
The apex court passed the order during hearing of an intra-court appeal filed against Supreme Court ruling in which some parts of the Army Act had been suspended in a case about military courts.
The apex court had restrained the military courts from pronouncing judgements against convicts.
At the start of the hearing today, the constitution bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan remarked that all other cases fixed for today should be rescheduled to enable the bench to hear only the appeal against the judgement regarding military courts.
The court order stated that the judgements of the military courts should be conditional on the outcome of the case pending adjudication in the Supreme Court.
After the order, the court adjourned further hearing of the matter till after the winter vacation in the court.
