BELGRADE: Hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated against President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and his government in what is being described as the biggest protest yet.

According to a foreign news agency, millions of people in Serbia demonstrated against President Alexander Vucic and his government and held a protest rally.

Due to the protest, there was a high alert in the Serbian capital Belgrade and all public transport was also closed.

Anti-government protests in Serbia began four months ago. In November last year, 15 people were killed when the roof of an under-construction railway station collapsed.

In this regard, the protesters said that the accident occurred due to the corruption and incompetence of the government, while the government has warned of strict action against the protesters.

The government had announced an investigation but so far no one has been held accountable for the accident as a result of which the public has decided to take to the streets.
