ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari has directed departments concerned to complete the Gilgit-Baltistan Solarization Project on time.
The minister said that the project marks a significant move toward clean and environmentally friendly energy.
He was chairing a meeting of the project’s steering committee, where progress on the 100-megawatt solar project was reviewed. According to an official statement, the committee emphasized timely completion and effective coordination among relevant institutions.
Leghari said renewable energy projects not only benefit the environment but also strengthen the national economy. He added that the Gilgit-Baltistan solar project will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels while ensuring affordable and clean electricity for local communities.
The meeting also discussed the technical and financial aspects of the project. The minister described the initiative as a “milestone for both energy and environmental protection.”
