ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has termed Afghan people as thankless neighbors of Pakistan.
The minister strongly reacted to the Saturday attack on Pakistan’s consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, by Afghan protesters and hinted at intensifying action against Afghan refugees living in Pakistan for over decades.
Talking to media, the PML-N stalwart remarked, “They attack Pakistan’s consulate, disrespect our national flag, use foul language against Pakistan, and we continue treating them as guests. There is limit to it.”
He also hinted at intensifying action against millions of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan for decades.
It may be mentioned here that Afghan protesters while holding a rally in the German city of Frankfurt stormed into the Pakistani consulate and ransacked the building. They also pulled down the national flag of Pakistan and tried to burn it.
The incident occured on Saturday and there was no security put in place by the German authorities.
The Foreign Office in Islamabad summoned the ambassador of Germany on Sunday and handed him a demarche denouncing the incident and the German government’s failure to provide security.
The government of Germany was asked to take action against the culprits and ensure security of the Pakistani missions in accordance with the Genevan Conventions.
