MUZAFFARABAD: The formation of a new cabinet in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has progressed as the possible distribution of ministries has been finalized.
According to reports, new ministers are expected to be assigned their portfolios soon. Senior political figures are expected to be given the major ministries with key appointments being discussed.
Among the most likely appointments, Mian Waheed is expected to be appointed as the Senior Minister and assigned the portfolios of Law and the Public Development Organization (PDO). Basil Naqvi is seen as a strong contender for the Ministry of Health. Javed Ayub is likely to be handed the Ministry of Forests, while Chaudhry Rashid is expected to take charge of the Ministry of Finance.
Other potential ministry assignments include Diwan Ali for the Ministry of Education (Schools), Rafiq Nair for Information and IT, and Ali Shan Soni for the Ministry of Food. Javed Budhanuvi may be given charge of Rehabilitation and Agriculture, while Qasim Majid is likely to be appointed to the Ministry of Planning and Land Revenue.
Additional key positions expected to be finalized soon include Yasir Sultan for Housing, Chaudhry Arshad for Electricity, and Zia ul Qamar for Public Works. Faheem Rabbani is considered a strong candidate for the Ministries of Tourism and Industries, while Muhammad Hussain is likely to be given charge of the Ministry of Taxation and Zakat.
