LAHORE: Police here arrested a woman in a case registered against her on the charge of criminal intimidation and put her in a lockup along with her four-year-old daughter.
A case was registered against the woman at the Wahdat Colony police station on the charge of criminal intimidation.
The police arrested the woman and also put her minor daughter behind bars with her.
After an outcry over the police action, the girl was handed over to her relatives who took her away.
When contacted and asked about the locking up of the minor, a police officer said the woman was wanted in the case registered weeks ago.
He said on Thursday the woman surrendered at the police station along with her little daughter. The girl refused when police tried to separate her from her mother so she was allowed to stay with her mother in the lockup.
The officer said later a close relative turned up and took away the child.
However, the relatives of the woman said police action against the woman was illegal, adding that there was no allegations of criminal intimidation mentioned in the FIR.
