SRINAGAR: The occupation forces in Kashmir have again put senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
In a social media post, Mirwaiz today said that he was not allowed by the occupation forces form going to the Jamia Masjid for Friday prayers and deliver a sermon.
He said that he had been released on the direction of court after prolonged house arrest. They keep me under house arrest for months, lift the ban on my mobility and then again restrict me to my house, he complained. He said that often the security forces park a vehicle on my gate and tell me that I cannot step out. This is very unfortunate, he added.
He said after Aug 5, 2019 when the special status of Kashmir was abolished by the Indian government, the people of Kashmir had been facing hard times. As Mirwaiz, it is my responsibility to raise voice for the people, he added.
Mirwaiz was put under house detention following the abolition of Kashmir special status in 2019. At his Friday sermons, he has been saying that Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be seen as a humanitarian issue rather than just a territorial one. The Kashmiri leader also calls for the release of all illegally detained political prisoners, journalists, lawyers, civil society members and youth by the Indian forces.
