RAWALPINDI: The home department of Punjab has issued a show-cause notice to the deputy superintendent of Adiala jail who has been missing since August 14th this year.
It was alleged that the superintendent of the jail, Mohammad Akram, had been facilitating the PTI founder Imran Khan in the jail for many months. He was reportedly taken into custody by law enforcement agencies in August. A few weeks ago, Mr Akram was issued a notice to vacate his official residence the jail colony.
Now the Punjab home department has issued another notice to Mr Akram, alleging that his negligence led to a fight between two groups of mentally disturbed prisoners in the jail in Feb this year. One prisoner was killed and several others were injured in the fight inside the jail at the time.
The notice stated that Mr Akram failed to follow rules and kept the five mentally disturbed patients in one cell that led to the fight among them. The notice added that an inquiry conducted into the incident found Mr Akram responsible for it. The inquiry committee recommended terminating the services of Mr Akram, said the notice.
